A 75-year-old man has been arrested following the discovery of an elderly woman's body inside a Lincolnshire property, with police describing the death as suspicious.
Discovery on Elm Avenue
The incident unfolded on Monday afternoon, January 12, 2026, when the body of an 82-year-old woman was found at a home on Elm Avenue in Cherry Willingham. The village is located in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire.
Lincolnshire Police were called to the scene and subsequently arrested a 75-year-old man in connection with the death. He remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

In an official statement, Lincolnshire Police confirmed they are treating the woman's death as suspicious at this early stage. However, they emphasised maintaining an open mind while awaiting crucial forensic results.
"At this stage we are treating the woman’s death as suspicious, but we remain open-minded as we await the return of test results and toxicology to further understand the circumstances involved in this lady’s death," a police spokesperson said.
The force added that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the investigation, referencing Incident 313 of 12/01/26.
