Kent Horse Owner Appeals for Help to Catch 'Monster' Who Sexually Violated Her Horse
Julie Bonner, a 44-year-old carer from Kent, is making a desperate public appeal to help locate a man who was captured on CCTV sexually assaulting her horse, Charlie, in an incident that has left her traumatised and fearful for community safety. The alleged bestiality occurred at Pheasant Stables in Rainham, Kent, on February 13 last year, and despite a police investigation, the suspect remains at large.
Disturbing Incident Caught on Camera
The shocking event took place around 11pm when an intruder jumped a fence and approached Charlie, who was alone in a restricted area of the stables. CCTV footage shows the man performing an alleged sex act on the horse, with Ms Bonner describing Charlie as looking "quite frozen" and "confused" during the violation. She recounted, "The man was bent down with him and had his hands in that area." Police were contacted immediately, launching an investigation that included CCTV reviews, house-to-house inquiries, and forensic analysis, but no suspect has been identified.
Fears for Wider Community Safety
Ms Bonner, who bought Charlie seven years ago after a period of ill health, expressed deep concern that the perpetrator could pose a threat beyond animal abuse. "We're concerned the guy could go on to attack women or children. That’s why I put a Facebook post out asking for help," she said. The horse owner believes the man may have visited the stables multiple times, as footage from the night before showed him "hugging" and stroking Charlie, adding to her distress.
The emotional impact has been severe, with Ms Bonner noting that she used to cry whenever discussing the incident. "It was all very traumatic and upsetting. Everyone was upset that somebody could actually do this to an innocent horse that hasn’t done anything wrong," she explained. As a result, she and Charlie have since moved stables, as the location lost its status as their "happy place."
Public Appeal and Similar Reports
Since sharing her story on social media, Ms Bonner has received reports from others in the county about similar incidents over the past couple of years, highlighting a potential pattern of behaviour. She issued a direct message to the suspect: "Whichever monster has done this to Charlie, I feel like you should definitely turn yourself in. And if you’re involved with someone who has something to do with this, they should all turn themselves in." She emphasised, "Because you’ve gone on the property, you’ve violated my horse, and I feel like you are a danger to the community and to other horses."
Police Investigation Continues
A Kent Police spokesman confirmed that officers attended the scene following reports of a man engaging in inappropriate sexual behaviour near Lower Rainham Road, Rainham. The investigation remains active, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward. Individuals can contact Kent Police on 01634 792209, quoting reference 46/27045/26, to assist in the search for the suspect.
