A man suspected of carrying out a stabbing spree on a high-speed train in Cambridgeshire is now facing a series of new charges, including the attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy.
New Charges Unveiled
British Transport Police confirmed that Anthony Williams, 32, has been charged with seven further offences. These new charges are connected to a series of violent incidents that occurred on October 31, the day before the attack on the train.
Williams, from Langford Road in Peterborough, is now accused of the attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy in Peterborough. He also faces a charge for the attempted murder of a 22-year-old man in the same city on the same day.
A Spree of Violence
The list of new allegations is extensive. Authorities state that Williams is also charged with the attempted grievous bodily harm of another 22-year-old man in Peterborough.
Furthermore, he is accused of affray and possession of a bladed article connected to an incident at Ritzy Barbers in Peterborough. Additional charges include the theft of knives from an Asda supermarket in Stevenage and assaulting a 31-year-old man on a train travelling between Hitchin and Biggleswade. All these events are said to have taken place on October 31.
Police and Prosecution Response
Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy of the British Transport Police described the new charges as significant. He emphasised the broader scope of the investigation into the awful Huntingdon incident.
"Our investigation into the awful incident at Huntingdon has also focused on other offences previously reported to police or identified by our investigation," he stated. "We have worked closely with our colleagues in Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Police alongside the Crown Prosecution Service to bring these charges."
Williams is scheduled to appear in court to face these new charges, which come in addition to those related to the November 1 stabbing spree on a high-speed train in Cambridgeshire.
