Community Reels from Birthday Party Tragedy

The shooting occurred around 6 pm Pacific Time on Saturday at a banquet hall on the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue. According to Heather Brent, a spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, the incident took place during a children's celebration.

Stockton's Vice Mayor Jason Lee confirmed the attack happened at a child's birthday party, stating, "An ice cream shop should never be a place where families fear for their lives."

The victims included two children aged 8 and 9, a 14-year-old, and a 21-year-old. All four were pronounced deceased at the scene or later in hospital.

Authorities Launch Manhunt for Suspect

San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office described the investigation as "very active and ongoing" and revealed that early indications suggest this may have been a targeted incident.

Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi confirmed the shooting is being treated as gang-related and disclosed that President Donald Trump's advisors have been in contact to offer help in tracking down the gunman.

No arrests have been made, and police are pleading for witnesses, particularly those who may have video recordings of the incident, to come forward. The shooting occurred inside a banquet hall that shares a parking lot with other businesses.
