Greater Manchester Police are appealing for the public's help to locate the mobile phone of Shane Cullen, a 31-year-old man who died following a fatal assault at a bar in Ashton-under-Lyne. The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, July 11, at Blues Cabaret and Karaoke Bar on Bow Street. Mr Cullen, described by his family as a 'great dad' and 'gentle giant', was pronounced dead at the scene.
Phone Contains Precious Memories
Police believe Mr Cullen had his phone with him at the time of the altercation. Despite searches by officers and the family, the phone has not been found. The force stated: 'It contains precious photographs, videos and memories which are of huge sentimental value to his loved ones.' The phone is described as a dark-coloured Android in a black wallet-style case, with a standard black and blue lock screen background.
Ongoing Criminal Proceedings
Carl Cooper, 36, of Smallshaw Lane in Ashton-under-Lyne, has been charged with Mr Cullen's murder, assault, and two counts of common assault. He has been remanded in custody, and enquiries into the death continue. Blues Cabaret and Karaoke Bar has temporarily closed following the incident.
Police and Family Plea
Detective Inspector Matthew Hamer said: 'Since Shane's death, we have been working closely with his family to try and locate his mobile phone. While criminal proceedings relating to Shane's death are ongoing, this appeal is about helping a grieving family recover something that means a great deal to them. The phone contains photographs, videos and memories that cannot be replaced, and we are keen to reunite it with Shane's loved ones.'
