Armed officers were dispatched to the west Edinburgh locale on Monday morning following urgent reports of a male individual seen in possession of a bladed weapon. The response led to the cordoning off of Cobbinshaw House, a residential tower block in the Calder district, for several hours as law enforcement secured the area and conducted their investigation.
On Tuesday, authorities confirmed that a 23-year-old male suspect had been charged in relation to the disturbance. He is scheduled to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday to face the charges.
Injuries and Medical Status
The altercation resulted in injuries to two people. A man suffered stab wounds, described by police as non-life-threatening. A woman sustained a laceration to her head; however, investigators have stated this injury is not believed to have been caused by a bladed weapon. Both individuals have since been treated and discharged from hospital care.

Chief Inspector Scott Kennedy addressed public concerns directly, highlighting the significant issue of false information spreading online. Chief Inspector Kennedy stated: "I'm aware misinformation continues to be shared online about this incident which could cause further distress in the local community. I'd like to be clear: we did not receive any reports of a man attempting to enter a nursery or any educational establishment, and this was not a hostage situation."
He further urged the public to refrain from speculation, noting that false information could potentially impact future court proceedings. Police have confirmed the incident is not being treated as terrorism-related and maintain a visible presence in the Calder area to reassure residents.
