Derby Sex Offender Admits Abusing 121 Victims Via Fake Snapchat

A prolific sex offender has been warned that a life sentence is possible after admitting offences against 121 young victims. Siah Riley, 35, of Walbrook Road, Derby, created a fake Snapchat profile posing as a teenage boy to persuade victims, many underage, to send indecent images and videos.

Derby Crown Court heard that Riley saved screenshots of the images and organised them into files by name. When victims stopped sending material, he blackmailed them by threatening to share the photographs. The offences occurred between 2021 and 2023, targeting girls as young as 12.

Riley pleaded guilty to 144 of 145 charges. A further charge of arranging or facilitating a child sex offence will remain on file. Judge Shaun Smith KC said: 'A life sentence is not out of the question. But if it is not going to be a life sentence it is going to be one of many years.'

The court heard that all 121 victims were real people, not decoys set up by paedophile hunters or undercover police. While most victims were in the UK, some are believed to be overseas. Riley is due to be sentenced on May 7.
