Chicago Commuter Films Himself Hanging from Speeding Train

A deeply concerning and reckless incident was captured on video over the weekend, showing a Chicago commuter laughing as he hung his body out of a speeding train, actively encouraging another person to join in what he described as 'fun'. The footage, which was uploaded to the social media platform X on Sunday, depicts a man dressed entirely in black, perilously suspended halfway out of a high-speed train window with one hand, while clutching a pack of Swisher Sweets cigars in the other.

A Dangerous and Disturbing Display

While some online speculation suggests the interaction between the reckless passenger and the individual filming might be staged, the extremely hazardous nature of the stunt appears undeniably real. The distressing clip begins with the cameraman walking towards the doors connecting to the next train car, only to be shocked by the sight of the man in black, who is seen rocking back and forth out of the open window.

The passenger is filmed smiling broadly, singing, and shaking his head as the powerful wind rushes past him, with cars and urban buildings blurring by in the background at high speed. "Try this s**t. This s**t some fun," the man hanging out the window declared with a grin. He added, "There's tears in my eyes," attributing it to the forceful wind, before stating, "There ain't nothing like being alive."

Online Outrage and Public Safety Concerns

Towards the end of the footage, the man quickly pulls himself back inside the train carriage as what appears to be a white wall or structure rapidly approaches. Users on social media were overwhelmingly disappointed and expressed significant alarm regarding the sheer stupidity and danger of the act.

"What the hell is this dude on? Does he really not value life at all?" one user wrote in a comment. Another added, "Highly stupid. Didn’t even know those windows opened." A third person highlighted broader consequences, stating, "It’s all fun & games until he falls out & his family files a huge lawsuit that taxpayers get the bill for."

It remains unclear how the passenger managed to open the train window, as reports indicate that Chicago Transit Authority trains are designed not to allow passenger access to windows for safety reasons. The Daily Mail has contacted the Chicago Transit Authority for an official comment on the incident.

Echoes of a Previous Tragedy

This alarming ordeal chillingly echoes a similar prank that ended in tragedy in 2023. In that incident, a man named Noah Kindl fell out of a car window while the vehicle was moving at approximately 55 miles per hour on a Pennsylvania road. Footage from that event showed Kindl hanging from a handgrip, giving the middle finger to the cameraman moments before the grip snapped, sending him falling backwards onto the road.

The recent train incident serves as a stark reminder of the severe risks associated with such reckless behavior, not only to the individuals involved but also to public safety and the potential for devastating legal and financial repercussions.
