10-Year-Old Boy Critically Injured in Stanmore Car Collision
A 10-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being struck by a car while crossing the road in Stanmore, London. The incident occurred on Sunday morning, leaving the child in a critical condition in hospital.
Details of the Incident
The collision took place at approximately 8:30am on Honeypot Lane in the Stanmore area. According to police reports, the boy was crossing the road on his scooter when he was hit by a black Volkswagen Golf GTI. Emergency services, including paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance, treated the child at the scene before transporting him to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
Arrest and Investigation
A 28-year-old man, who was driving the vehicle involved, stopped at the scene and has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been interviewed under caution and bailed pending further inquiries.
Detective Sergeant Nush Puvitharan of the Metropolitan Police stated: “Firstly, our thoughts are with this young boy and his loved ones at this very difficult time. A family had their lives turned upside down during a Sunday morning walk and our team are now working around the clock to piece together what happened.”
Appeal for Information
Police are urging anyone with information or footage of the black Volkswagen Golf GTI between 8:15am and 8:35am on Sunday to come forward. Detective Sergeant Puvitharan emphasised: “It’s imperative we gather as much evidence as we can to ensure we can build the full picture of the incident, and are encouraging anyone who can help to come forward and talk to us.”
