Police Response and Arrest

Officers were called to an address in Bolton, Greater Manchester, shortly after 10am on Monday, where they found a woman who was unresponsive. Emergency services administered CPR at the scene, but sadly, she was pronounced dead. A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

Scene Investigation and Community Impact

Forensic specialists are continuing to comb the property at Kempston Gardens, with a police cordon in place and officers guarding the entrance to the block. Neighbours have described a heavy police presence, with resident Terence Gormley expressing shock, noting that the area has changed significantly since he moved there four decades ago.

Another local resident highlighted ongoing issues in the community, stating that drug-related activities often occur nearby, affecting the use of local parks. They added, "It's a shame for the poor woman and her family, to lose someone for absolutely no reason."

Detective Inspector Louise Kelly of Greater Manchester Police's Major Incident Team emphasised the priority of identifying the female and informing her family. She said, "Specialist officers will be available to support them throughout this investigation. A murder investigation has been launched and whilst we currently have a man in custody, there is a police cordon in place, and we are conducting enquiries to establish the circumstances which have led to this tragic incident."

DI Kelly reassured the public, stating that while such incidents may cause concern, there is believed to be no wider risk to the community.
