A 37-year-old man has died after broadcasting a dangerous live challenge involving large quantities of whisky and cocaine to a private group of paying subscribers, who reportedly urged him on.
The Tragic Discovery
Sergio Jimenez Ramos was discovered lifeless in his bedroom in Vilanova i la Geltrú, near Barcelona, in the early hours of Wednesday, 31 December. His body was found rigid and cold, kneeling with his head slumped against the mattress, one hand still gripping his mobile phone.
His mother and brother made the grim discovery, finding an almost empty bottle of whisky, two energy drink cans, and a pile of cocaine on a red tray in the room. They told investigators they overheard voices from the webcam call asking, "Are you crashing yet, Sergio? You still haven't finished the bottle of whisky?".
A Fatal Private Session
Detectives believe Sergio died during a private video session where subscribers had paid to watch him consume a full bottle of whisky and approximately six grams of cocaine in under three hours. The session took place on New Year's Eve.
Sergio had a history of substance misuse and was undergoing psychiatric treatment. He had previously been banned from public streaming platforms like Kick, DLive, and Pump for violating rules on drug consumption.
Links to Extreme 'Cyber-Begging'
Last October, Sergio began appearing in live broadcasts organised by fellow streamer Simón Pérez Golarons, who is known online for orchestrating extreme 'cyber-begging' stunts. Simón stated that Sergio had seen his operations and set up his own group.
Discussing the fatal night, Simón said he was told Sergio took six grams in three hours, including a two-gram line. "I told him several times that two grams was an overdose - it's medically established," Simón claimed. "I told him not to stream, to leave Telegram, that it was rubbish and that he was going to end badly. I'm not to blame."
Sergio's grieving family is now seeking justice. Authorities are working to trace donations made to his account and identify all those involved.
Friends Jess and Vicente Paos expressed their fury to local media, stating: "They are scum who take advantage of others. They paid for the cocaine and whisky to make him kill himself."
