P&O Cruises passengers could face boarding delays and being recalled to the terminal if they do not follow a crucial luggage rule. The cruise line has issued a warning ahead of the busy summer season, urging guests to check their baggage weight before arriving at the port.
Baggage Allowance Policy
According to the P&O Cruises website, passengers can bring as many bags as they can comfortably fit into their cabin. However, each item of luggage must weigh no more than 23kg for safety and handling purposes. This rule applies to all ships in the fleet, which includes smaller traditional vessels and large modern ships with a total capacity exceeding 20,000 passengers.
The cruise line states: "If an item exceeds 23kg at embarkation, you will be recalled to the terminal and asked to remove items or repack your bags. Your baggage may also be delayed at disembarkation if you exceed this limit."
How to Avoid Delays
To prevent any hold-ups, passengers are advised to weigh their luggage at home using handheld digital scales, which are widely available and affordable. This simple step can ensure compliance with the weight limit and a smooth boarding process.
Additionally, those travelling to Southampton via coach transfer with Cruise Connect face a restriction of two medium cases per guest, each no heavier than 23kg.
Other Boarding Tips
P&O Cruises also recommends adhering to the allocated boarding time, which can be found in My P&O Cruises 21 days before departure. Printing luggage labels in advance is another way to speed up the process. For hand luggage, there are no restrictions on liquid sizes, but the alcohol policy limits guests to one litre of wine or champagne per person.
