Emergency Landing at Manchester Airport After Hydraulics Issue

A Pegasus Airlines flight from Istanbul made an emergency landing at Manchester Airport on Wednesday morning after reporting a mechanical failure. The aircraft, an Airbus A320 operating as flight PGT38X, issued a distress signal due to a hydraulics issue.

Fire trucks were positioned on the runway as the plane approached. Social media footage showed the aircraft trailing smoke from its wheels upon touchdown, with its gear doors hanging open. Airport technician Antony Ochieng noted that the crew used a manual gear extension using gravity to lower the wheels.

Aviation experts explained that the gear doors should have retracted after the landing gear was extended, but the hydraulic failure prevented this. One reverse thruster was observed working during the landing. No injuries were reported, and the aircraft landed safely.
