Nottingham Forest have joined the growing list of clubs expressing interest in Rangers' young midfielder Bailey Rice. The 19-year-old is out of contract this summer and appears likely to depart Ibrox.
Interest from Germany and the Netherlands
According to Daily Mail Sport, Bundesliga side Schalke have already submitted an initial offer for the Scotland Under-21 international. Ajax are also monitoring the situation closely, while Rangers have opened talks to retain Rice and have made it clear they are reluctant to lose him.
Rice's rise at Rangers
Rice joined Rangers from Motherwell in 2022 and has caught the attention of scouts from numerous top clubs. He became the youngest post-war player to appear for the club in the league, debuting against Livingston in 2023 at just 16 years and 137 days old.
However, his progress has been hampered by a knee injury sustained earlier this season, which required surgery. He has been back training with Danny Rohl's first-team squad since March.
Other suitors
Aston Villa, Sunderland, and West Brom have also been tracking the left-footed defensive midfielder's development. Former Rangers manager and midfielder Barry Ferguson urged the club to secure Rice to a new deal last month, but the allure of a new challenge across the border or abroad could prove irresistible.
