Bournemouth has officially claimed the title of home to the longest ice rink in the United Kingdom, following a spectacular transformation unveiled this week. The grand reopening marks the return of the popular Skate Bournemouth event, which will welcome visitors from 13 November 2025 until 4 January 2026.
A Spacious New Layout For Skaters
Stretching an impressive 70 metres in length, the rink's new long rectangular design is what secures its status as the nation's largest. Nestled under the beautiful canopies of Bournemouth's Lower Gardens, skaters can now enjoy a more expansive glide, surrounded by twinkling festive lights and music that creates a perfect winter atmosphere.
Enhanced Visitor Facilities And Viewing
The upgraded attraction has been thoughtfully designed to improve the visitor experience. A separate skate-hire marquee now features its own toilets and a dedicated queuing area, making the process of gearing up smooth and stress-free. For those who prefer to watch the action from a safe distance, or simply enjoy the spectacle of skaters taking a tumble, an expansive viewing platform and outdoor terrace have been installed.
Adding to the festive cheer, a new rink-side bar called Moguls Alpine Bar will serve a delightful menu of seasonal drinks. Guests can warm up with spiced mulled wine, indulge in festive cocktails, or enjoy a rich hot chocolate.

As a key part of the town's festive calendar, Skate Bournemouth draws thousands of visitors each year. The event will continue its popular tradition of hosting themed sessions, including student nights, sessions for experienced skaters, and toddler time, ensuring it is the perfect festive outing for all the family.
