British holidaymakers are facing significant financial uncertainty after a prominent travel company specialising in package holidays suddenly ceased trading.
Liquidation Leaves Bookings Cancelled
Regen Central Ltd, a travel firm established in 2011 and based in Hertfordshire, officially went into liquidation on 13 January 2026. The company, which operated under several brands including Regen Travels, One Haji & Umrah, and Oneworld Travels, sold combined flight and hotel packages to European and Southeast Asian destinations. All existing bookings have now been cancelled.
Official records on Companies House confirm the firm's insolvency. A statement published on the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) website notes that the company is no longer trading as a holder of an Air Travel Organisers' Licence (ATOL). This UK government-backed scheme is designed to protect consumers' money if a travel company fails, typically ensuring refunds or repatriation.
Limited Protection for Many Customers
However, in a blow to affected customers, the CAA statement indicates that Regen Central Ltd had no outstanding ATOL-protected bookings at the time of its collapse. Consequently, the authority has confirmed that no refunds will be issued through the ATOL scheme.
This situation highlights a critical gap in consumer protection. The ATOL scheme only covers traditional package holidays that include a flight. Bookings sold as accommodation-only, non-flight packages, or flight-only where tickets were already issued, are not protected. Many customers of Regen Central may find themselves in these unprotected categories.
The CAA has advised, "If you believe you are owed a refund for an ATOL protected booking, under Regen Central Ltd’s ATOL, please contact us via email at claims@caa.co.uk."
Another Blow for the UK Travel Industry
The failure of Regen Central Ltd marks another casualty in a challenging period for the UK's travel sector. According to the CAA's own listings, other travel companies that have ceased trading in the past year include Ickenham Travel Group Ltd, Great Little Escapes LLP, and Jetline Travel Ltd.
The collapse is particularly striking given the positive reputation some of its trading names enjoyed. Both One Hajj & Umrah and Oneworld Travels had garnered numerous highly recommended reviews on Google, with past customers praising their "great service" and "professional team."
This event serves as a stark reminder for UK consumers to always verify a company's ATOL protection status before booking and to understand precisely what type of financial protection, if any, applies to their holiday purchase.
