Russell Wilson has announced that he and his wife, Ciara, are part of an investment group behind a stunning new luxury resort in Belize. On Sunday, the Super Bowl champion shared a short video on Instagram showcasing the extravagant resort and its offerings. In the post, Wilson wrote, 'Welcome Home! Excited about our new Island Resort Venture @CayeChapel in Belize! World Class!'.
Resort Features
The island development combines the Caye Chapel Golf & Ocean Club with a Four Seasons resort, creating a unified community. Situated on a secluded island, the resort emphasizes privacy for its guests. Located on the edge of the world's second-largest barrier reef, visitors can enjoy golf, beach clubs, a harbor, and even a private airstrip and heliport. The resort is scheduled to open in 2027.
Ciara responded to the NFL star's video, saying, 'Truly one of the most beautiful places in the world! It doesn’t get any better! Truly thankful.'
Wilson's NFL Future
This investment comes amid uncertainty about Wilson's NFL career after he left the New York Giants following a single ill-fated season. He began last season as the starter, but the team drafted Jaxson Dart in the first round. Fans quickly demanded Dart become the starter after a rocky start, which happened in Week 4 following an 0-3 start. Later, when Dart entered concussion protocol, Wilson was overlooked in favor of Jameis Winston.
Wilson had signed only a one-year deal in New York and is now a free agent. New head coach John Harbaugh has since moved to bolster the quarterback room, signing journeyman Brandon Allen earlier this month. Allen is with his seventh team since being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016.
Baseball Appearance
On Sunday, Wilson made a special guest appearance with the Savannah Bananas at Yankee Stadium for their game against the Party Animals. Wilson, an exceptional baseball player in his youth, was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2010 and spent time in the minor leagues before choosing football. His rights later moved to the Texas Rangers and then the New York Yankees.
At Yankee Stadium, Wilson entered during the fifth inning, managed to hit the ball but smashed his bat in the process. As he sprinted to first base, he was easily run out.
