Pegasus Launches New London-Istanbul Route from Gatwick

Budget airline Pegasus has launched a new direct London–Istanbul route from Gatwick, opening up access to a wider 160-destination global network.

Pegasus Airlines has expanded its UK operations with a new daily summer route linking London Gatwick and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The low-cost carrier will launch the service on 15 June 2026, marking its sixth UK airport connection as it continues to grow its British network.

Why is the new Gatwick route important for holidaymakers?

The airline says the new service will increase travel options for UK passengers, particularly those in London and the South East, by offering more affordable connections compared with traditional carriers. It will also provide direct access to Istanbul as a major transit hub, opening up onward routes across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia.

Industry analysts say increased competition on key routes could help keep fares lower for families and leisure travellers during peak holiday periods.

Jonny Macneal, head of aviation development at Gatwick, said: “Pegasus’ arrival highlights the continued strong demand from carriers to operate from London Gatwick as we expand our network and enhance connectivity across Europe and beyond.”

Which airlines are expanding at Gatwick?

Pegasus is the sixth airline to launch flights from Gatwick so far this year, joining carriers including Air France, which returned after a gap of around 30 years, along with Condor, Jet2 and AirAsia X. The expansion highlights growing competition among airlines operating from the airport as travel demand continues to recover and evolve.

What does the timetable offer passengers?

The daily summer schedule is designed to minimise waiting times for connecting flights, with smooth transfers through Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Flight PC1186 will depart London Gatwick in the afternoon and arrive in Istanbul in the evening, allowing passengers to connect onwards the same day. The airline says the timing is structured to reduce delays and avoid overnight stopovers for long-haul connections.

Which destinations are now easier to reach?

Through Istanbul, passengers will be able to connect to popular Turkish Riviera destinations including Antalya, Bodrum and Dalaman. The route also provides onward access to a wide range of destinations across North Africa and Central Asia, expanding travel options for UK holidaymakers seeking both beach and city breaks.

Pegasus also operates flights to Turkey from Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and Edinburgh, as well as London’s airports, reinforcing its wider UK network.
