Wetherspoon has announced plans to open 15 new pubs across the UK over the next year, with the first six locations now confirmed. The pub chain, which operates 795 sites nationwide, revealed the expansion following a 5.6% rise in like-for-like sales in the 13 weeks to April 27.
The first new pub, The Conister Arms in Douglas on the Isle of Man, will open on Wednesday, May 14. This will be followed by Walham Green in Fulham Broadway, South West London, on Tuesday, June 17. The Dictum of Kenilworth in Warwickshire is set to open on Wednesday, July 30.
Later in the summer, Sun Wharf on Tooley Street near London Bridge will open on August 26, followed by The King of Essex in Basildon on Tuesday, September 23. A new site in Merchant Square, Paddington, is also planned to open later this summer, though an exact date has yet to be confirmed.
Wetherspoon has already opened two new sites this year, in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, and at London's Waterloo station. Additionally, the chain has opened four franchised pubs in partnership with Haven Holiday Parks: Red Rocks at Devon Cliffs, The Humber Stone at Cleethorpes Beach, The London Stone at Kent Coast, and The Sir Thomas Haggerston at Haggerston Castle in Northumberland.
Announcements for the remaining nine new pubs will be made over the coming months.
