Supermarket chain Waitrose has issued an urgent product recall for two lines of its bottled water, warning customers that the items may contain dangerous fragments of glass.

The alert was officially issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) on Wednesday 31 December 2025. The affected products are Waitrose No1 Deeside Mineral Water and Waitrose No1 Deeside Sparkling Water, both in 750ml bottles.

The FSA stated that the products "may contain glass", presenting a clear risk of injury if consumed. This makes the water unsafe to drink. The agency's warning is categorised as a "do not drink" notice.

What Customers Need to Do

Shoppers who have purchased the affected bottles are being strongly advised not to consume the water. Instead, they should take the product back to their nearest Waitrose store to receive a full refund. No receipt is required for the return.

The recall is specific to bottles with best before dates in November and December 2027. Consumers are asked to check the batch codes on their bottles to confirm if they are part of the impacted batches.
