Premier Inn Hotel Mattress Home Test: 15-Month Review

A journalist has tested the exact mattress used in Premier Inn hotels at home for 15 months, providing a detailed review of its performance. The hybrid mattress, which combines foam and springs, aims to recreate the hotel sleep experience. The reviewer, a light sleeper prone to insomnia, focused on movement isolation, support, and comfort.

The mattress, delivered free to a room of choice (with old mattress removal for £40), is 28.5cm deep and weighs more than typical boxed mattresses. Unlike many hybrids, it arrived without a vacuum seal, resulting in no off-gassing smell. Its firmness is rated 7/10, described as medium to firm, with a pillow-top layer adding plushness without softness.

Edge support proved strong, with only a 4cm dip when sitting on the edge, and no feeling of rolling off or toward the centre. Movement isolation exceeded expectations; despite a gel-infused layer designed for bounce, the reviewer was not jolted awake by a partner's movements, a significant benefit for light sleepers.

The reviewer found settling into a comfortable position quicker than with a previous Dusk mattress, with no need for readjustment. Temperature regulation was satisfactory, though the reviewer remained sceptical of such claims. Overall, the mattress provides substantial support and a hotel-like feel, though its design lacks sleekness.
