Lidl Recalls Smoked Salmon and Trout Over Listeria Risk

Lidl has extended a recall of smoked salmon and trout products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The Food Standards Scotland (FSS) has advised customers not to eat the affected items and to return them to any Lidl store for a full refund without needing a receipt.

The recall affects several products, including Lidl Deluxe Scottish Smoked Salmon and Lidl Deluxe Smoked Trout. Customers with queries can contact Lidl Customer Services on 0800 977 7766 or via email at customer.services@lidl.co.uk.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious illness, particularly in pregnant women, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, and gastrointestinal issues.

This recall is part of a broader wave of food safety warnings issued by major UK supermarkets in December, including Asda, Co-op, Morrisons, Iceland, and Ikea, over issues such as plastic fragments, undeclared allergens, and metal pieces.
