Lidl Urges Shoppers to Check Freezers After Recalling Popular Teatime Meal
Lidl recalls frozen chicken over salmonella risk

Lidl has issued an urgent recall for one of its popular frozen chicken products over fears it may be contaminated with salmonella. The discount supermarket is urging customers to check their freezers for the affected item and return it immediately for a full refund.

Which Product Is Affected?

The recall involves Lidl’s Woodside Farms Frozen Breaded Chicken Goujons (400g), with a use-by date of 31 December 2025 and batch code L352A. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has warned that consuming the product could pose a serious health risk.

What Should Customers Do?

If you’ve purchased this product, Lidl advises:

  • Do not eat it – salmonella can cause severe food poisoning.
  • Return it to your nearest Lidl store – you’ll receive a full refund, no receipt required.

Why Is This Recall Happening?

The FSA confirmed the recall after tests detected salmonella in the product. Symptoms of salmonella poisoning include diarrhoea, stomach cramps, fever, and vomiting. In severe cases, it can require hospital treatment, particularly for vulnerable groups like young children and the elderly.

Lidl’s Response

A Lidl spokesperson said: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and assure customers that we take food safety extremely seriously. We are working closely with the FSA to resolve this issue."

This is the latest in a series of supermarket recalls in recent months, highlighting the importance of food safety checks.
