A self-declared superfan of Kmart Australia has uncovered the budget retailer's latest kitchenware collection and is convinced it will be the next big hit to vanish from stores. Victorian Instagrammer Eliza Reid, who runs the popular @bargain_homewares account, found the charming new Mediterranean-themed range during a recent shopping trip.
Vibrant Designs Inspired by Summer Seasides
Eliza shared her discovery in a video, highlighting the 'luxe' line of dinnerware, platters, and table linen. The collection is defined by its colourful, illustrated patterns and food-themed motifs. Repeated designs of tomatoes, lemons, sardines, olives, and chillies create an eye-catching, summery aesthetic across a wide array of products.
The range is perfectly suited for summer entertaining and includes serving trays, plates in various sizes, bowls, placemats, tablecloths, napkins, and decorative candles. In her video, Eliza showcased the three items she immediately purchased.
Eliza's Top Picks from the Collection
Her first essential buy was a four-pack of Mediterranean Side Plates for $12. Each plate in the set boasts a different individual design: tomatoes, olives, sardines, or chillies. Eliza was particularly taken by how 'cute' the patterns were.
She also added a four-pack of Printed Spoons for $7.50, which includes two spatulas and two spoons. The backs of these utensils feature designs that coordinate thematically with the plates.
The final piece she couldn't resist was the Tomato Salad Servers for $10, which have whimsical cherry tomato designs on the handles. These statement servers are ideal for sharing dishes like salads or pasta and are sure to become a conversation starter at any gathering.
Eliza noted that several items she desired were already out of stock in her local store but looked excellent online. These included an oversized Mediterranean Serving Bowl for $16 and a four-pack of cherry-tomato printed napkins for $5.
Creating a Complete Coastal Tablescape
For those aiming to build a full Euro coastal-inspired table setting, the cotton napkins – listed online as a bestseller – would pair brilliantly with the vibrant Mediterranean Tablecloth, priced at $10. Other standout items in the range include sculptural tomato-shaped Salt and Pepper Shakers for $6, a Mixed Fruits Enamel Platter for $16, and ceramic Striped Candles.
The candles come in three designs: pomodoro tomato, limone, or olive, each costing $13. Kmart Australia's Buyer, Sarah Dummett, told the Daily Mail that the new dining collection 'conjures up images of the Amalfi coast in summertime, but without the airfares'.
She pointed out that the motifs of tomatoes, olives, and lemons are set against a white background, making it easy to mix and match with existing plain dinnerware. However, she added that the range is affordable enough for customers to buy a complete tablescape, with prices starting at just $3.
Eliza concluded her video by urging her followers to act quickly, either in-store or online, 'because these are definitely going to sell out'.
