Kirk Norcross Embraces New Career as Rubbish Collector After Showbiz Exit

Kirk Norcross, the former star of ITV2's reality series The Only Way Is Essex, has publicly announced his latest professional move: establishing a waste disposal company. This career shift comes over a decade after he initially stepped away from the limelight, with the 37-year-old now focusing on a more grounded business venture in the environmental services sector.

Launching County Clear Waste in East Anglia

Norcross's new enterprise, named County Clear Waste, specialises in same-day rubbish collection services. The company is based in the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, targeting local communities with efficient waste management solutions. Although the business appears to be in its early stages, with its Instagram account only beginning to post in early January, it has already garnered significant attention, amassing over 1,500 followers within its first month of operation.

A History of Business Ventures Post-Fame

This is not Norcross's first foray into entrepreneurship since leaving his reality TV career behind. In 2020, he revealed he had transitioned to running a drain unblocking business, describing the move as a departure from the 'toxic' environment of fame. Prior to that, he operated KN Jet Services in Essex, a jet-washing and drain-cleaning company, which served as his initial business venture after exiting showbiz.

In interviews, Norcross has spoken candidly about the challenges of life in the public eye. He noted that the fame he experienced was often 'brutal' and filled with superficial relationships, leading him to dramatically downsize his lifestyle. 'I used to buy Ferraris, expensive watches and designer jeans — now I’m happy with a £20 pair from Topman,' he remarked, highlighting his preference for a simpler, more authentic existence.

Reflections on TOWIE and Its Impact

Norcross has also been vocal about his time on TOWIE, claiming in 2024 that producers 'manipulated' him to create dramatic storylines. He alleged that this included being pushed into dating scenarios while in other relationships and having to film contrived scenes during personal family crises, such as when his grandfather was hospitalised. These experiences, he said, negatively affected his family's well-being and contributed to a challenging period in his life.

Tragically, Norcross lost his father, Mick, to suicide in 2021, adding to the personal hardships he has faced. His comments on podcasts have shed light on the pressures faced by reality TV stars, emphasising the mental health toll that can accompany such exposure.

Looking Ahead with County Clear Waste

With County Clear Waste, Norcross is now channelling his entrepreneurial spirit into a practical, community-focused business. The company's rapid social media growth suggests a positive reception, potentially paving the way for expansion in the waste management industry. As he continues to build this new venture, Norcross remains committed to leaving the 'b******t' of fame behind, embracing a career that offers genuine satisfaction and a 'bigger smile' on his face.
