Aldi Brings Back Discontinued Sports Biscuits After Fan Petition

Aldi has announced the return of Elkes Sports Biscuits, a nostalgic favourite from the 1980s, after a fan petition called for their revival. The shortcake biscuits, featuring designs of sporting activities like cycling and cricket, were discontinued several years ago, sparking outrage among devotees.

A petition titled 'Save Fox’s Sports Biscuits' was launched by Fatima Saloo, who described her 'intense pain' at losing the snack, which she enjoyed dipping in Indian chai. Now, Aldi is stepping in as the first retailer to restock the biscuits, promising to 'revive nostalgic memories' for fans across the country.

The 200g packs will hit shelves from January 21, priced at just 79p. Social media users have expressed their delight, with one Facebook user calling them the 'best biscuits ever' and another declaring, 'My life is now complete again.'

The biscuits were briefly spotted in Farmfoods last year but proved difficult to find. Aldi's move follows a trend of bringing back discontinued treats, as the supermarket recently launched a Tropical Blast drink, a substitute for the discontinued Lilt, which shoppers claim tastes 'better than the original.'
