Supermarket chain Aldi has announced plans to open 16 new stores across the UK in the coming months, continuing its aggressive expansion strategy. The Germany-based retailer currently operates over 1,080 stores in the UK and aims to grow its estate to 1,500 sites nationwide.

New Store Locations

The new sites include locations in Watford and Hoxton in London, Hattersley in Greater Manchester, and Balsall Common in the West Midlands. Other towns and cities set to receive new Aldi stores are Newport on the Isle of Wight, Bishops Cleeve in Cheltenham, Newport in South Wales, Orpington, Ashford in Kent, Rayleigh in Essex, Marble Arch in London, Malton in North Yorkshire, Port Talbot in Wales, Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands, Wigan in Greater Manchester, and Sudbury in Suffolk.

Expansion Plans

The latest openings are part of Aldi's long-term ambition to reach 1,500 stores across the UK. In January, the company stated it hopes to open around 40 new stores in 2026, aligning with this growth strategy. The most recent store opened in Salford Quays last month, with the group investing £370 million in new stores this year.
