Celebrity Couple Lists Luxury Mansion After Terrifying Burglary Attempt
Real Housewives of Cheshire star Tanya Bardsley and her former Premier League footballer husband Phil Bardsley have placed their magnificent Cheshire mansion on the market, following a frightening attempted burglary at the property last year. The couple have set an asking price of £1,890,000 for their five-bedroom home in the affluent area of Wilmslow.
Masked Intruders Trigger Security Alert
The decision to sell comes after a harrowing incident in May of last year, when masked men attempted to break into the family home. Tanya Bardsley, 44, was at home with her children when the security system, monitored by an external company, alerted the police. She later shared a warning on social media, posting footage that showed her son Rocco, 16, on the driveway with police officers and a private security guard.
"Two masked men in Wilmslow lock your doors put your cameras on and call police if you see them," Tanya wrote in her Instagram post at the time. She expressed gratitude for their security provider, highlighting the effectiveness of their comprehensive system during the late-night attempt.
Architect-Designed Property with Premium Features
The stunning property, set behind secure gates on a prestigious private road, boasts over 5,000 square feet of living space across four floors. It is situated next to the scenic Bollin Valley and includes:
- A spectacular principal suite occupying the entire top floor, complete with a dressing room and a luxurious en-suite featuring a standalone egg-shaped bath.
- Four additional bedrooms and three other bathrooms.
- A basement entertainment space with a fully fitted media room, integrated sound system, and a games room.
- Externally, a secure gated driveway leads to a double garage with automated shutter doors, surrounded by private, landscaped gardens.
The home also features integrated outside lighting and the advanced security system that proved crucial during the burglary attempt.
Not the First Reality Star Targeted
Tanya and Phil are not the only figures from the Real Housewives franchise to be targeted by thieves. In 2022, her former co-star Nicole Sealey was left shaken when armed robbers gained access to her Cheshire home using crowbars, making off with valuables including engagement and wedding rings and Rolex watches.
Couple's New Reality Venture
The burglary incident occurred as the couple were preparing to open their doors for a new reality show, separate from The Real Housewives of Cheshire. Tanya, the longest-serving member of the Cheshire cast since its 2015 launch, admitted that having their own programme was "a lot harder" than previous projects.
Phil, who began his career at Manchester United and played for clubs including Burnley and Aston Villa, initially resisted the idea but eventually relented to family pressure. "We had to wear him down," Tanya revealed, noting that the show captures their authentic, unfiltered family life without the constant glamour of her Housewives appearances.
The couple, married since 2014, joke about Tanya's tendency to overshare, with Phil describing his role as putting out fires after her humorous outbursts. This personal dynamic is set to feature prominently in their upcoming series.
The decision to sell their Wilmslow mansion marks a significant move for the family, driven by the traumatic events of last year's burglary attempt as they seek a fresh start in a more secure environment.
