An index of US small business optimism fell in May to its lowest level since October 2024, erasing nearly all gains seen since President Donald Trump was elected for a second term, according to Bloomberg.
Small Business Optimism Drops
The National Federation of Independent Business optimism index declined 0.6 points to 95.3, based on data released last week. This measure had previously reached a six-year high in December 2024 following Trump's re-election.
Top Concerns for Small Business Owners
Key concerns include taxes, inflation, and labor costs. Notably, 29% of respondents reported difficulty filling job positions.
