Tuchel: Anderson Transfer Battle Can Boost England Star

Thomas Tuchel has revealed why the transfer battle for Elliot Anderson can help the England star at the World Cup. Anderson, a Nottingham Forest midfielder, is the subject of a nine-figure transfer tug-of-war between Manchester City and Manchester United, with Forest demanding a Premier League record fee for a midfielder in excess of £110m.

Tuchel's Endorsement

England boss Thomas Tuchel described Anderson as the "full package" and believes the transfer interest can take him to another level. "He's a top player. There's nothing more to say, he's the full package," Tuchel said. "The bid? No comment! He seems not affected. It was an amazing performance against Costa Rica, he's fine."

Confidence Boost

Tuchel insists the transfer speculation will not distract Anderson, but rather boost his confidence. "It should push him because it's proof of what he's capable to do and what level he can perform. At the moment it seems like a push for him," Tuchel added. "Even if a transfer is completed, hopefully he stays the same person. Nothing will change overnight with him if he wakes up, he's not a new player."

Tuchel has allowed players to discuss transfers in camp but not on match days. He is confident Anderson remains focused: "What I see on the training pitch is no distractions, full commitment."

Gordon's Move

Tuchel also commented on Anthony Gordon's £70m move from Newcastle to Barcelona, which came just before the tournament. Gordon impressed against Costa Rica, providing a goal and an assist, and could start ahead of Marcus Rashford against Croatia. "He's strongest if he plays humble and like a physical winger," Tuchel said. "I think he has a confidence boost because of the step to Barcelona but I hope it doesn't change his style of play."
