A woman attempting to transform her garden into an Ibiza-style beach club for the summer has made a significant error by ordering the wrong type of sand. Caity Baser, who shared her project on TikTok, ordered a tonne of sand for her garden makeover, but quickly realized she could not move the heavy bag from her front doorstep to the back garden. She resorted to filling buckets and making multiple trips to spread the sand on a tarpaulin.
The Sand Mistake
However, viewers were quick to point out that her troubles did not end there. Caity had ordered builder's sand, which is structurally different from the silica sand commonly found on beaches. Builder's sand has a lower salt content and angular grains that bond tightly, making it suitable for mortar and concrete but not for creating a beach-like surface. Commenters warned that when it rains, the sand could turn into a muddy quagmire.
One user wrote, "Oh Caity. Why have you got builders' sand?" Another added, "That's not the same as beach sand, your garden will be a quagmire when it rains." A third joked, "At least you're gonna get a full beach experience with the sea included after it rains." Concerns were also raised about outdoor cats potentially using the sand as a litter box.
Despite the Setback
Despite the sand blunder, Caity's beach club transformation was not a total failure. In a follow-up video, she showed the final result, complete with an inflatable pool, palm trees, and beach-themed decorations. She hosted a party with friends, featuring cocktails and inflatable flamingos, successfully capturing the beach club vibe.
