Bargain Hunt Couple Donate Winnings to Welsh Food Bank
Bargain Hunt contestants donate profits to food bank

Viewers of the beloved BBC daytime show Bargain Hunt have been left feeling inspired after a married couple's surprise act of generosity at the end of a recent episode.

A Heartwarming Gesture in Wales

The episode, which was filmed in Narberth, Wales, featured contestants Sarah and Pete, known as the blue team. Like all participants, they were given a budget and a strict sixty-minute time limit to hunt for antiques, aiming to sell them at a profit.

While winning teams typically keep their earnings, Sarah and Pete made a different choice. They decided to use their entire profit to purchase essential supplies for the Cardigan Foodbank in Wales.

Recognition and Public Reaction

The kind act was officially acknowledged by the Bargain Hunt team on the social media platform X. Their post read: "How nice of Sarah and Pete - the blue team on last Monday's episode in Narberth - to use their profits to buy food for their local food bank. Diolch yn fawr guys."

Cardigan Food Bank also shared the news on its own Facebook page, posting a photograph of the couple alongside a table laden with their donations. The haul included practical items such as tea bags, tinned goods, sugar, biscuits, and jars of sauces.

In a heartfelt message, the food bank wrote: "Thank you, Pete and Sarah. As part of their experience in the 'Bargain Hunt' TV show (aired last Monday) they've used their money to buy food for the Foodbank. Diolch yn fawr."

Fans of the show were quick to express their admiration for the couple's selfless move. One supporter commented with clapping hands emojis, calling it a "generous thing to do." Another described it as a "lovely kind gesture," while others simply posted "Well done all!" and "Wonderful."

Bargain Hunt's Enduring Legacy

This touching moment comes as the long-running programme celebrates its 25th year on the air. Bargain Hunt first aired on 13 March 2000, originally presented by David Dickinson, and later hosted by Tim Wonnacott and Danny Sebastian.

The show's crew is currently in the running for the Best Daytime Show award at the 2026 TV Choice Awards, with public voting having recently concluded. The programme continues to be available for viewers on BBC iPlayer.
