UK Golf Club, Chinese Food Business Enter Administration

Over the past week, five UK businesses have entered administration, including a well-known golf club, a Chinese food supplier, and a construction company. Entering administration means control of a company's assets is temporarily handed to an administrator, who attempts to rescue all or parts of the business. This process sometimes fails, leading to redundancies.

Forest Hill Golf Club

Forest Hill Golf Club, located 20 minutes from Leicester city centre and trading for 35 years, has entered administration. The club features an 18-hole championship golf course, a floodlit 20-bay driving range with TrackMan technology, a golf simulation suite, an adventure golf course, a gym, studio, lounge bar, and restaurant. It remains open and is expected to be put on the market soon.

Ming Foods

Ming Foods, a family-run Chinese food supplier based in Swanley, Kent, has also entered administration. Founded by Mr and Mrs Minh in 1984, the business started in their kitchen, expanded into a restaurant, and later into manufacturing. It supplies products to UK and EU oriental wholesalers, which distribute to supermarkets and restaurants.

Flower and Hayes

Bristol-based construction firm Flower and Hayes, trading for over a century, has collapsed into administration. The company specialized in new build homes, with projects at Orchard Way, Henley Way, Knapp Hill, and Upper Conygre. According to its LinkedIn page, the firm aimed to be the best in residential, commercial, and industrial construction, using traditional skills and quality materials.

Urban Powerboat Services Limited

Hampshire-based Urban Powerboat Services Limited, a British manufacturer of high-performance boats, has entered administration after three years of trading. The company emphasized quality craftsmanship and advanced engineering. No reason was given for the administration.

BGL Contracts Limited

Electrical firm BGL Contracts Limited entered administration after nearly two decades, resulting in the loss of all 40 jobs. The director cited "insurmountable challenges" due to rising expenses and financial strain. The company specialized in electrical fit-out work for leisure, hospitality, retail, and automotive sectors, including installations at Glasgow venues like Hard Rock Cafe.

All businesses have been contacted for comment.
