Seven UK Counties Set for 24°C+ Warm Spell in Days

The Met Office has indicated that a warmer spell is on the horizon for parts of England, with seven counties expected to experience temperatures of 24°C or above in less than two weeks. This follows a period of showers and longer spells of rain at the start of June, as Atlantic frontal systems sweep across the UK.

Weather Outlook

According to weather maps from WXCharts, which utilises MetDesk data, much of the country is set for warm conditions by 6pm on Saturday, June 13. Southern England, the Midlands, and Wales will see highs in the low 20s, though some coastal areas in the southwest may remain in the late teens. London is predicted to hit 26°C, with neighbouring counties such as Kent, Surrey, and Berkshire also likely to reach between 24°C and 25°C. Further north, temperatures will generally hover in the late teens, while Northern Ireland is expected to be cooler, with temperatures in the mid-teens.

The Met Office forecasts that Monday will be cloudy, with rain spreading eastwards from the west, heavy at times, particularly in western areas. Moderate to fresh winds are expected, lighter in the north, with temperatures near normal for the time of year.

Midweek Weather

For Tuesday (June 2) to Thursday (June 4), the weather is expected to remain unsettled, with spells of rain, showers, and thunderstorms. Hail is likely in any thundery outbreaks, and temperatures are set to be much cooler than the previous week.

Long-Range Forecast

In its long-range forecast from Friday (June 5) to Sunday (June 14), the Met Office states: "Changeable early in this period with Atlantic frontal systems moving across the UK. These will bring showers or longer spells of rain at times, with wettest conditions in the northwest, driest in the southeast. Strong winds may affect parts of the UK at times, especially the northwest."

"Later in the period, higher pressure and drier weather may begin to become more prevalent, especially in the south. Temperatures are likely to be near normal overall."
