Influencer Dies in 'Death Game' Livestream After Alleged Torture for Clicks
Influencer dies in 'death game' live stream

A French influencer has died during a marathon 12-day livestream after suffering what viewers described as sustained abuse and humiliation broadcast live to subscribers.

The Tragic Livestream Incident

On August 18, 2025, subscribers to a livestream on the platform Kick grew increasingly concerned when one of the participants, Jean 'JP' Pormanove, appeared unresponsive. The 46-year-old, whose real name was Raphaël Graven, was later confirmed to have died in his sleep on camera.

Fellow streamers Owen 'Naruto' Cenazandotti and Safine Hamad were participating in the extended broadcast on the Le Lokal TV channel. Over the twelve-day period, viewers witnessed what they described as systematic abuse of the former soldier, with the stream allegedly generating approximately €36,000 (£31,700) in donations.

Alleged Abuse and Viewer Concerns

According to multiple reports, the livestream featured disturbing content where Jean was allegedly:

  • Suffocated with a plastic bag and a nappy
  • Deprived of sleep
  • Struck repeatedly in the head
  • Shot at with paintballs
  • Forced to ingest 'toxic products'
  • Made to clean excrement from another streamer

Viewers reported seeing other influencers competing to see how long they could throttle Jean, while he screamed in pain as people threw themselves on top of him. The alleged degradation extended to him being repeatedly insulted and having parts of his hair shaved off.

Disturbingly, Jean had expressed concerns about his treatment during the stream. In a message read aloud to his elderly mother, he wrote: "Hi mom, how are you? Stuck for a bit in [Cenazandotti's] death game. It's going too far. I feel like I'm kidnapped with their s***** concept. I'm fed up, I want to get out of here."

Aftermath and Official Response

Following Jean's death, Clara Chappaz, France's minister delegate for artificial intelligence and digital affairs, stated that the military veteran had been "humiliated and mistreated for months live on the Kick platform".

The Paris prosecutor's office has opened a preliminary investigation into whether Kick "knowingly provided illegal services, in particular by distributing videos of international attacks on personal integrity".

A Kick spokesperson told AFP the platform was "urgently reviewing the circumstances and engaging with relevant stakeholders to investigate the situation" and expressed condolences to Jean's family and friends.

This wasn't the first time concerns had been raised about Jean's welfare. In January 2025, both Cenazandotti and Hamad were briefly detained as part of an investigation into 'deliberate violent acts' against 'vulnerable people', though neither was charged.

An autopsy revealed that Jean, who had pre-existing cardiac issues and was undergoing treatment for his thyroid gland, did not die from impact trauma. The likely causes of death appeared to be medical or toxicological.
