Amazon Fire TV Users Urged to Restart Devices for Major Free Upgrade
Amazon has confirmed a significant free upgrade is now rolling out to its Fire TV devices, but users may need to restart their hardware to access the new features. The technology giant announced the deployment of a redesigned Fire TV experience, which promises to be cleaner, faster, and better organised, enhancing the way viewers discover content.
Enhanced Interface and Performance Improvements
The update introduces a more intuitive menu system and allows users to pin their favourite apps directly to the home screen for quicker access. Additionally, pressing and holding the Home button now instantly opens a Shortcut Panel without interrupting video playback. Amazon boasts that this latest system update delivers a performance boost of up to 30%, making navigation and streaming smoother than ever.
New Content Categories and Football Hub
To simplify content discovery, Amazon has added categories that aggregate movies, TV shows, news, live content, and sports across all subscribed services. With the summer football season approaching, a dedicated football hub will provide Fire TV users with match schedules and direct links to live games through their local providers, ensuring fans never miss a moment.
Device Compatibility and Rollout Details
The new Fire TV experience is currently available for the Fire TV Stick HD (newest model) and Amazon Ember Artline devices. Other models, including the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, are expected to receive the update soon. Amazon stated, "We're excited to bring this faster, easier way to enjoy everything you love to watch to even more Fire TV devices in the future. Stay tuned for updates on expanded device availability."
How to Access the Update
If you own a compatible device and do not see the update, Amazon recommends restarting your device by following these steps:
- Navigate to Settings > My Fire TV > Restart
- Wait for the device to restart and check for the new interface
If the update still does not appear, it may not have reached your device yet. Amazon reassured users, "No need to worry—it will arrive automatically in the coming weeks. You don't need to do anything else; just sit tight and the update will come to you!" This rollout is part of Amazon's ongoing efforts to enhance user experience with regular, free software improvements.
