A mother was left in tears after her two-year-old daughter found her father's electric hair trimmer and shaved a chunk of hair from the centre of her scalp, just days before her third birthday party.
Diane Smith, from the UK, shared the incident on TikTok, showing the aftermath of the discovery. The toddler, Stevie, had found the trimmer left on the bathroom sink after her father had been unable to use it the previous night. While Diane showered, Stevie picked up the device and used it on her own hair.
In the video, Diane filmed the bathroom floor covered in long blonde hair before panning to Stevie sitting on her bedroom carpet, playing with a plush toy. The camera zoomed in on the shaved patch running down the middle of her scalp. Diane wrote in the caption: 'If I have to rinse my body Stevie will play with her toys in the sink and I’ll shower real fast. What I didn’t realise is Rob’s trimmer was left on the sink.'
She added: 'When I got out of the shower I noticed hair everywhere and then saw her try and use the trimmer again and I immediately noticed and burst into tears. This was so, so, so sad.'
TikTok users offered sympathy and advice. One commented: 'Nooooooo. Oh my goodness I swear toddler stage is an extreme sport.' Another suggested: 'Good news you can comb some hair up top of her head in a pony tail so it won’t show too bad.' A third wrote: 'One day you will laugh about this! Stevie is still cute as ever!!!'
In follow-up videos, Diane confirmed that Stevie's birthday party went well, with the toddler wearing a bucket hat to cover the bald patch.
