Aston Villa are closely monitoring Paris Saint-Germain forward Ibrahim Mbaye as they prepare for another hectic summer transfer window. Unai Emery's side are in a strong position to secure Champions League football, either by finishing in the Premier League's top five or by winning the Europa League.
Young Talent Focus
According to Daily Mail Sport, Villa intend to prioritise younger players this summer, with Mbaye high on their list of targets. However, the deal is expected to be challenging. Although Mbaye has only two years remaining on his contract, Villa will face stiff competition from other clubs, which is likely to drive up the transfer fee. The club must also remain compliant with Premier League and UEFA financial regulations.
Attacking Reinforcements Needed
With Morgan Rogers expected to attract interest from the Premier League's wealthiest clubs, and players like Leon Bailey and Jadon Sancho likely to depart, Villa are seeking versatile attackers capable of operating across the frontline. Mbaye, who prefers the right wing but can also play on the left, fits this profile.
The 18-year-old was born in France but has chosen to represent Senegal internationally. He is expected to be part of Senegal's World Cup squad, having already scored three goals in 10 appearances for the Teranga Lions. At PSG, he has registered one goal and two assists this season but has started only 10 matches due to intense competition for places.
Mbaye has featured just six times since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations. PSG manager Luis Enrique commented on the situation: 'Every minute you play at PSG has to be special. You have to be ready. It is simply competition, and some players have to stay out of the team.'
