The Women’s Rugby World Cup final has broken viewing records, attracting a peak audience of 5.8 million across television and streaming on the BBC. The match, in which England’s Red Roses defeated Canada 33-13 at Twickenham, became the most-watched women’s rugby union match ever on UK television and the most-watched rugby match of 2025.

Across the entire tournament, the Women’s Rugby World Cup reached a total TV audience of 12 million, with 10.5 million streams on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport digital platforms. Social media clips garnered 51 million views, while live reporting pages recorded 18.3 million views.

The final itself was played in front of 81,885 fans at Twickenham, where Canada took an early lead before England scored five tries, with Zoe Harrison contributing flawless kicking. The atmosphere was described as a historic celebration of women’s rugby.

BBC Sport has pledged to continue covering women’s rugby, with live Premiership Women’s Rugby matches across the 2025/26 and 2026/27 seasons, including one semi-final and the final, streamed on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website and app. The Women’s Six Nations will also remain on BBC platforms.
