Scotland Seek Redemption Against Argentina After All Blacks Defeat
Head coach Gregor Townsend has named his Scotland side to face Argentina this Sunday at Murrayfield, making just a single alteration to the starting fifteen that narrowly lost to New Zealand last weekend. The team is looking to immediately return to winning ways after their gallant 25-17 defeat against the All Blacks.
Team News: Darge Promoted, Van der Merwe Back on Bench
The sole change in the starting line-up sees vice-captain Rory Darge promoted from the bench to start at openside flanker. He takes the place of Matt Fagerson, who drops to the replacements. In a significant boost, talismanic fly-half Finn Russell has been declared fit to start after being substituted with knee and ankle concerns during the closing stages of the New Zealand match.
There is a welcome return for joint-record try-scorer Duhan van der Merwe, who is named on the bench after being omitted from the matchday squad entirely for the All Blacks fixture. His inclusion sees Townsend revert to a 5-3 split of forwards and backs on the bench, with lock Marshall Sykes dropping out.
Injuries and Bench Reshuffle
Influential prop Zander Fagerson remains unavailable as he continues his recovery from calf and knee problems that have sidelined him since early April. The only other change among the substitutes sees Nathan McBeth replace fellow Glasgow Warriors prop Rory Sutherland, who is ruled out due to concussion protocols.
The match kicks off at 3:10 PM GMT on Sunday, 16 November, at a sold-out Murrayfield in Edinburgh.
