Heroic Rescue by Neighbors

Two neighbors, hearing a woman's cries for help, rushed to her aid. Tim Johnson, one of the rescuers, recounted to WOOD-TV: "I had to get in there and get her out." He described how they "grabbed her arms and pulled her out as far as we could." The woman was subsequently transported to a hospital in critical condition.

The blast was so powerful that it shook Johnson's own home. He sustained second-degree burns on his head and one hand during the rescue effort.
