Michael Olise has made a huge decision over his future, reportedly choosing to join Real Madrid. According to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, the 24-year-old French international believes Real Madrid is the perfect club to continue his progression after France's semi-final exit to Spain at the World Cup.
Olise's rise since leaving Crystal Palace
Olise has been heavily coveted this summer following his stellar performances for Bayern Munich since arriving from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 for a reported €60 million fee. Signed by Vincent Kompany, the former Manchester City captain and current Bayern boss, the forward has played 107 times for the Bundesliga champions, scoring 42 goals and providing 54 assists. He has been linked strongly with Real Madrid, while Paris Saint-Germain also held interest.
World Cup involvement and decision
Olise played 72 minutes of France's 2-0 defeat to Spain in the World Cup semi-final in Arlington, Texas, before being substituted by Didier Deschamps. Rayan Cherki replaced him. Aouna claims Olise has decided he wants to join Real Madrid, with Los Blancos keen to offer Bayern a world-record fee. However, Bayern Munich insists Olise is not for sale and would like to offer him a new contract. The German champions have identified several players who could replace the Hammersmith-born forward.
Real Madrid's official statement
Real Madrid's interest remains uncertain after the La Liga side issued a 'Comunicado oficial' in June, stating they had "not had any direct or indirect contact with [Olise], his representatives, or individuals in his circle." The statement also highlighted the "excellent institutional relationship" with Bayern Munich and regretted "the dissemination of speculations that do not correspond to reality."
What's next for Olise
The saga will continue, likely delayed by Olise's World Cup involvement. France will play in the third and fourth-place play-off on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami against either England or Argentina. Olise has produced six assists in seven games at the tournament, starting all matches either on the right wing or as a No. 10.
