Olivia Culpo Reveals How Fatherhood Transformed Christian McCaffrey's Football Outlook
Culpo: Fatherhood Changed McCaffrey's Football Perspective

In a candid and emotional interview, Olivia Culpo has opened up about the profound impact fatherhood has had on her partner, NFL star Christian McCaffrey, reshaping his approach to the high-stakes world of professional football.

A New Perspective on the Game

Culpo, a former Miss Universe, detailed how the birth of their daughter, Colette Annalise McCaffrey, in July has fundamentally altered McCaffrey's mindset. She emphasised that while football remains a serious pursuit, the arrival of their child has provided a grounding influence, helping him maintain balance amidst the emotional rollercoaster of the sport.

Prioritising Health and Wellbeing

'Well, first and foremost, I have always been worried about his health and safety,' Culpo told the New York Post, reflecting on her support for McCaffrey following a playoff loss. 'If he's feeling good and if I notice, 'Okay, he's walking okay or he doesn't look too banged up.' I'm really excited and happy. And he feels that way too.'

She explained that the physical demands of American football now underscore a primary concern: being healthy enough to achieve personal goals while fulfilling parental duties. 'I think ultimately it's just such a physical sport that you just want to be healthy enough to reach the goals that you have for yourself…'

Fatherhood as a Grounding Force

Culpo highlighted how their daughter has introduced a new layer of perspective. 'Having a baby there really has changed that and made everything feel a little bit more grounded and light — and just have a better perspective because… win or lose, you still have to show up for her.'

This shift was particularly poignant after the San Francisco 49ers' postseason ended with a 41-6 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks on January 17th. Culpo noted that McCaffrey, known for his intense dedication, now processes such setbacks with greater equanimity.

Family Support and Future Plans

Culpo expressed admiration for McCaffrey's natural aptitude for parenting, crediting his upbringing. 'I always knew he would be a really good dad because he's just a really good person. And his parents [Lisa and former NFL wideout Ed McCaffrey] are just a great example.'

She added, 'But I feel like I'm happy for the perspective that it's able to give him, especially with his career. He takes it so seriously. If there's a loss, there's all sorts of emotions and ups and downs, and it's kind of a way to keep things in perspective and it truly [means that you] don't sweat the small stuff. So I'm very grateful for that.'

Looking Ahead to Super Bowl Celebrations

Despite the 49ers missing out on the Super Bowl this year, Culpo and McCaffrey plan to enjoy the event with family and friends. 'I'm going to host the Super Bowl with my family, so I will probably be in L.A. instead of San Francisco. I'm excited to throw a little party, though,' she shared.

'It's going to be probably a combination of Christian's friends and teammates and my family,' Culpo said of her Super Bowl 2026 party plans. '… Since Christian will be here, we have a lot of things from the grill. I feel like guys always want a ton of protein.'

Culpo's insights reveal a touching narrative of how personal milestones can redefine professional priorities, offering McCaffrey a healthier, more resilient outlook on his football career.
