World Cup co-hosts Canada kick off their campaign on home soil when they take on Bosnia & Herzegovina in Group B. Jesse Marsch's side qualified automatically as tournament hosts and will be aiming to make history by reaching the knockout stages for the first time. Canada have appeared at the World Cup on just two previous occasions and have yet to win a match at the finals, losing all six of their previous games.

Bosnia & Herzegovina are appearing at only their second World Cup and their first since 2014. They booked their place at the tournament after coming through the play-offs, defeating Wales before upsetting Italy on penalties to secure qualification. The Group B clash promises to be a fascinating encounter, with Switzerland and Qatar also competing in the group.

USA v Paraguay

Kick-off: 2am (UK time, Saturday)
Venue: SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles
TV channel: BBC One
Live stream: BBC iPlayer
Radio coverage: BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra and talkSPORT

The United States begin their World Cup journey when they face Paraguay in Los Angeles. Like Canada, the USA qualified automatically as one of the tournament's hosts and will have ambitions of making a deep run under former Tottenham, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino. The Americans have reached eight of the last nine World Cups and will be confident of progressing from Group D, which also contains Australia and Turkey.

Paraguay, meanwhile, are back on football's biggest stage after missing the previous three tournaments. Their best World Cup performance came in South Africa in 2010 when they reached the quarter-finals. Having finished level on points with Brazil and Uruguay during qualification, Paraguay arrive in strong form and could prove awkward opponents for the hosts.
