Former UFC champion Anderson Silva has declined an invitation to compete on Jake Paul's upcoming Netflix MMA event, which is headlined by Ronda Rousey. The Brazilian fighter, aged 50, revealed that he is currently focused on training to become a police officer, leading him to turn down the opportunity.

Silva was approached by Nakisa Bidarian, Jake Paul's business partner, to feature on the card scheduled for 16 May in Los Angeles. The event will showcase a women's bout between Ronda Rousey and Gina Carano, along with other high-profile matches, including Francis Ngannou versus Philipe Lins and Nate Diaz against Mike Perry. Silva, who lost to Paul in a 2022 boxing match, has previously fought under Paul's Most Valuable Promotions banner, most recently stopping Tyron Woodley in December.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Silva explained his decision, stating that he is dedicating his efforts to studying for a police officer role. He mentioned, "I'm in this process now to become a police officer, to study, to keep my mind working on the one thing, so I just said, 'I can't this time.'" He added that while he trains in jiu-jitsu daily and boxing twice a week, he no longer wishes to engage in MMA due to the rigorous training demands. Silva hinted at possibly taking one or two more boxing fights after completing his police training.
