Phil Mickelson has withdrawn from next week's PGA Championship at Aronimink, citing a personal health matter involving his family. The PGA of America confirmed the decision, stating that the two-time champion is stepping aside for family reasons.
Mickelson, who has played only one of LIV Golf's six tournaments in 2026, also missed the Masters earlier this year due to a similar family health concern. He has been replaced in the field by fellow American Max Homa.
The 53-year-old is a two-time winner of the PGA Championship, having triumphed in 2005 at Baltusrol and, most notably, in 2021 at Kiawah Island at the age of 50. That victory made him the oldest winner of a men's major championship in history.
