Florian Wirtz is set to begin working with Jurgen Klopp in September after the former Liverpool boss was named Germany's new head coach last month. Klopp's appointment came after Julian Nagelsmann resigned following Germany's World Cup exit to Paraguay on penalties.
Asked about the appointment, Wirtz said: "It's very, very cool that he's there now. I've not spoken to him yet but a lot of people here at the club told me about him, that he is a fantastic guy. All of Liverpool loves him. So, I'm very excited to meet him in a few months."
Klopp leaves Red Bull role
Klopp had been working as head of global soccer for Red Bull, but had a gentlemen's agreement with the organisation that allowed him to leave if he intended to become Germany's head coach. He stepped down as Liverpool manager in the summer of 2024 after almost nine years in charge.
Klopp has been replaced at Red Bull by Roger Schmidt, who said: "I am truly excited about this new challenge and proud to be returning to the Red Bull family.
