Constantly tired, cold, and suffering from acne? You may be experiencing hormonal imbalance, according to Melbourne-based natural fertility expert Nat Kringoudis. She recently outlined common symptoms and solutions for restoring hormonal health.
Mid-cycle pain is the most frequent symptom Kringoudis sees in her practice. She explains that this pain often indicates excess oestrogen, which she describes as the 'driving issue' for many women. To address this, she recommends reducing consumption of foods that 'feed oestrogen', such as soy and alcohol, while also improving sleep and diet.
Stress is another major factor. 'Stress ages us faster than we can blink and it affects our hormones in crazy ways,' Kringoudis says. She advocates the '8 x 8 x 8 rule': eight hours of work, eight hours of play, and eight hours of rest each day to manage stress levels.
A sluggish thyroid can cause cold extremities, brain fog, fatigue, poor memory, and missed menstrual cycles. Kringoudis advises eliminating inflammatory foods like gluten and sugar, which may contribute to thyroid issues. She also suggests trying a new habit for 21 days to observe changes in the body.
