Liverpool have confirmed that three members of their coaching staff have left the club, continuing the backroom shake-up following the dismissal of Arne Slot at the end of May.
The club announced that Sipke Hulshoff, Ruben Peeters, and Giovanni van Bronckhorst have all followed the Dutchman through the Anfield exit door. Hulshoff joined as first assistant coach and Peeters as lead physical performance coach when Slot was appointed as Jurgen Klopp's successor in the summer of 2024. Van Bronckhorst, a former Arsenal, Barcelona, and Netherlands midfielder, arrived last summer as an assistant coach within Slot's setup.
A club statement read: “Liverpool FC can confirm the departures of Sipke Hulshoff, Ruben Peeters and Giovanni van Bronckhorst from the coaching staff. The three will now leave their posts following the announcement of Slot’s departure as head coach last month. Everybody at LFC thanks Sipke, Ruben and Gio for all their efforts and contributions to the club and wishes them the best for the future.”
This announcement clears the way for new head coach Andoni Iraola to bring in his own coaching team, which has yet to be officially finalised following his appointment earlier this month. Iraola is reportedly keen to bring assistants Tommy Elphick and Shaun Cooper, analyst Tom Webber, and fitness coach Pablo de la Torre to Merseyside.
Former Liverpool players Thiago Alcantara and recently-retired James Milner have also been linked with coaching roles, but the final composition of the backroom staff will be decided by the Spaniard.
