Ex-Liverpool Star Jordon Ibe Joins Bulgarian Side Lokomotiv Sofia After 17-Day Non-League Stint

Former Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe has ended his brief spell at eighth-tier English club Sittingbourne FC after just 17 days, opting to join Bulgarian First League side Lokomotiv Sofia. The 29-year-old, who once cost Bournemouth £15 million, has signed a two-year deal with the club, which is currently 11th in the table and fighting relegation.

Ibe's move to Lokomotiv marks the 11th club of his career and his third this year. He arrives at a club averaging fewer than 1,000 fans per game, a stark contrast to his days playing at Anfield. The winger made his Liverpool debut as a teenager and was tipped for a bright future under managers Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp.

Lokomotiv Sofia's statement expressed confidence in Ibe's revival: 'After a few difficult seasons, Jordan is ready to revive his career, and we all believe that this will happen at Lokomotiv. The management of Lokomotiv wishes Jordon Ibe much health, happiness and success with the red and black jersey.'

Ibe's career has been plagued by struggles; he confessed in 2021 to suffering from depression for four years. Since his Bournemouth contract expired in 2020, he has played only 11 minutes of professional football, for Derby County and Ebbsfleet United. His last goal for Liverpool came in a 1-0 Europa League win over Rubin Kazan in 2015, after which Klopp praised him as a 'big talent'.
