Chelsea Manager Liam Rosenior Confirms Mole Identified After PSG Team Leaks

Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has publicly confirmed that the club has successfully identified the individual responsible for leaking team news ahead of their recent Champions League clashes with Paris Saint-Germain. Both of Chelsea's starting line-ups for the two-legged tie were leaked hours before kick-off, prompting an internal investigation by the club.

Investigation Concludes with Non-Malicious Intent

Prior to the return leg, Rosenior announced that Chelsea had launched a formal inquiry into the leaks. Speaking ahead of Saturday's Premier League visit to Everton, the manager provided an update, revealing that the investigation is now complete. He suggested that the mole did not act with harmful intentions.

"We know who it was," Rosenior confirmed. "It's not come from any place of malicious intent to me or the team. We've dealt with the situation."

The leaks included details such as Wesley Fofana's absence for the second leg, which was reported by multiple French outlets before Chelsea's 3-0 defeat. Ultimately, PSG triumphed 8-2 on aggregate, securing a quarter-final tie against Liverpool.

Injury Updates Add to Chelsea's Challenges

In the same press conference, Rosenior disclosed significant injury news for the squad. Defender Trevoh Chalobah is set to be sidelined for approximately six weeks after picking up an injury during the full game against PSG. Chalobah, aged 26, joins captain Reece James on the injury list.

"It wasn't until later after the game that I saw the image, and then you're really worried," Rosenior admitted. "Fortunately, it's nowhere near as serious as we first feared. We're looking at maybe six weeks."

Regarding James' hamstring issue, Rosenior added, "We're going to look more at Reece after the international break. It's not serious, but there's something in his hamstring we're going to look at after the break."

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has undergone a scan for a groin problem, and centre-back Levi Colwill is making steady progress in his recovery from an ACL injury. "With an ACL, he's hitting all of the benchmarks he needs to, but we need to make sure he keeps getting past certain levels," Rosenior explained. "He's still looking at a good while yet."

Premier League Position and Upcoming Fixture

Following a 1-0 home loss to Newcastle United last weekend, Chelsea currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, just one point behind Liverpool, who occupy what is expected to be the fifth and final Champions League qualification spot. Everton trail Rosenior's side by only five points, setting up a crucial clash at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

"Every manager goes through difficult weeks," Rosenior reflected. "I've had challenging periods before. I've lost games in many jobs, like all managers have done. We need to find a way to fight at Everton and come through a difficult period."

The identification of the mole marks a significant step in addressing internal issues, as Chelsea aim to refocus on their campaign amidst injury setbacks and competitive pressures in the league.
